Interview: Jessica Verday

You've seen copies of The Hollow floating around WORD. Five copies, to be exact, all up for giveaway - three in the treasure hunt, one in the Classic Haunts giveaway that's coming up, and one in the Coffins 'n Things giveaway.

When Abbey's best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen's funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey's life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he's the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again...but also special.

Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen's betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her—one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.

But what about the lady who wrote it, hmm?

Jessica Verday has taken a moment out of her busy schedule to celebrate Book Spooks and Halloween with the rest of us! Want to hear about how her tour is coming along? About her favorite candy? Her thoughts on The Hollow?

All you have to do is click read more.

N: Welcome to WORD and Book Spooks, Jessica! What is your favorite or least favorite part about being an author?
J: Deadlines. I would definitely like them more if there were cupcakes as rewards.

N: Are you excited for your tour with Michelle Zink? What are you looking
forward to most?

J: I am SO excited to be going on tour with Michelle. She's one of the greatest people I know, and we have so much fun each time we get to hang out! It's hard to decide which part of the tour I'm looking forward to the most, but I am thrilled to be kicking things off in Sleepy Hollow.

N: What is your favorite movie?
J: I love all kinds of movies, but I absolutely love comedies and horror.

N: I love horror movies that are so bad they're funny. Do you have a favorite line from The Hollow?
J: "I could tell he wanted to touch me, but something was holding him back... Maybe it was the same something that made me hesitate every time I thought about reaching out to touch him. Fear of rejection? Or fear that once our skin met, it would fuse together and we wouldn't be able to pull it apart again?"

N: If you could cast anybody to star in The Hollow, who would it be?
J: I would love to see Tom Felton as Caspian, Alexis Bledel as Abbey and Michael Cane as Nikolas

N: Tom Felton - yum. What's your favorite part of Halloween?
J: Fun Halloween events (haunted houses, ghost tours, and candy!)

N: If you could have any super power, what would it be?
J: I would love to have X-Ray vision and the ability to make no-calorie cupcakes appear out of thin air.

N: That would be awesome - but sadly, things with no calories tend to have no taste. Do you have a favorite piece of candy?
J: Twizzlers.

Don't forget to check out the giveaways to win The Hollow! Be sure to check out Jessica on tour - all the information is on her website - and eat lots of Twizzlers this Halloween!
